Information Fire Hose

For the past few weeks I have hooked myself up to an information fire hose. My desire to learn and to sharpen my knowledge edge has definitely been renewed. I’m not exactly sure what did it, I think I’ve just felt like I’ve been in a bit of a rut.

I have been downloading a few geeky podcasts and burning them to a CD-RW to play in my car on my commute. Here are some of the podcasts I’ve been listening to:

  • TWiT - This Week in Tech, good tech news updates
  • Diggnation - Weekly updates of the top news stories from Digg.com, mainly I like it because the guys are fairly smart and definitely hilarious
  • Extreme Tech - This one is a little dry, but has some good info some
  • JavaPosse - This one is by far the nerdiest, but the one I get the most relevant info for my job

I’ve also been using BlogLines to keep up with many blogs and online news sources that have RSS feeds. It is really useful and it makes it easy to discover more things to read that have similar subject matter to what I’m already reading.

So basically, I’m reading a LOT more than I used to, which is a good thing :). In fact, I am eagerly anticipating the release of the Sony eReader so that it will be easier to read these sources away from the computer.
